How does plain text QR work?
Unlike a link QR code, plain text is contained directly in the QR pattern. Recipients can read it by scanning, even when a network connection is unavailable. Short text typically scans more reliably than very large paragraphs.
How to make your QR code
- Type a note, instruction or identifier into the text field.
- Check the encoded character count and select a clear color combination.
- Download and scan the result before distributing it.
Brand your QR code with a logo
Upload your own company logo and choose a circular badge inside the QR, a larger logo beside the code, or both. Choose the center badge shape (white circle or rounded square) and spacing. The QR squares behind the logo are left empty. High error correction helps, but scan-test before printing.
Tips for reliable scanning
- Treat any QR message as public information because anyone can scan it.
- Avoid very long paragraphs; dense codes need larger print sizes.
- For changing content, link to a page you control rather than embedding the full text.
Common questions
Does the text QR need internet access?
No. The content is stored directly inside the QR code.
Can I store passwords or private data?
Technically you can, but it is not recommended. QR codes are not encrypted.
Are non-English characters supported?
The tool encodes text as UTF-8 bytes. Display may vary in older QR-reading applications.
